FAQs

What is sensitive skin, and is it a skin type?

Sensitive skin is a condition, not a skin type. Your type is oily, dry, or combination. Sensitivity sits on top of it, and any type can become sensitive at any point in life. The usual signs are stinging or tightness after cleansing, flushing, persistent redness, and reacting to products that never used to be a problem. Almost always, the outer barrier has been compromised. That is why we treat sensitivity separately rather than filing it as a type of its own.

Is DOS skincare safe for reactive, easily irritated skin?

Every DOS formula is made in our own lab under pharmaceutical standards, and every one is clinically tested for safety with a per-formula microbiology analysis. Our sensitive skin formulas contain zero alcohol and are free from parabens, sulfates, and PEGs. We are cruelty-free, and we publish the full ingredient list of every product online, so nothing is hidden from you. If your skin is highly reactive, we still recommend patch testing anything new on your inner arm for two days first.

Are your products fragrance-free?

No, and we would rather tell you plainly than imply otherwise. Our products carry a natural scent that comes from the botanicals themselves. We do not add synthetic fragrance. For most sensitive skin, botanical scent is far better tolerated than synthetic perfume, but if you have reacted to a specific plant before, every ingredient list is published on the product page so you can check before you buy.

Can sensitive skin use active ingredients?

Yes, if the actives and the delivery are right. Most irritation comes from a single isolated active pushed to a high concentration. We work differently. Our botanical actives come from Greek herbs grown in the Olympus region, and we use the whole herb rather than one extract, so many compounds work together in synergy instead of one working alone. We then pair them with our own absorption technology, which carries those actives past the surface and into the deeper layers, where they are needed. Less sitting on the surface means less to react to.

What does a sensitive skin routine look like, and should it change with the seasons?

Three steps, not seven. Fewer products mean fewer variables, and when something does upset your skin you can actually identify what it was. A DOS routine is a cleanse, a treatment, and a moisturiser, matched to your skin rather than to a trend. Seasons matter too. In winter, sensitive skin needs deeper hydration and richer night care, because the cold months are when skin does most of its regenerating. In summer, it needs lighter serums and more protection. Same skin, different needs.

How do I find the right products for my sensitive skin?

Take the Skin Test. We do not believe in recommending before we understand, so we diagnose first. The test reads five parameters, which are your skin type, its tendency, the season you are in, your age, and your sensitivity level. You get a personalised three-step routine at the end of it, built for your skin rather than for everyone's.

How long before I see a difference?

Our formulas are designed to show a visible difference within seven to ten days. With sensitive skin, the calming usually comes first, often within the first few days, as redness and tightness settle. Rebuilding a stronger barrier takes a little longer, because skin needs a full renewal cycle to do it. Ten days is a fair point to look in the mirror and judge for yourself.
